Hey yall,
It is past midnight here in Iceland - W O W - what can I say except that if it was possible for a human to melt Iceland glaciers, John certainly did it tonight. Vintage John Fogerty - it should probably be against the law for one person to have soo much talent and for people to enjoy so much!!!! Anyway, too much to write, too little time....I will hit some of the highlights and let Petra, Anne and Alessio add their entertaining comments.
Got into Rejkvik this morning. Went and got ticket from shopping mall, located venue and wound up meeting Petra, Alessio and Anne who got to the venue way early. You could hear sound check through the doors and that is where the faithful stayed in the cold, windy Iceland air waiting for the doors to open....
The venue <John played held 8,000 people. Placed was packed and they enjoyed the concert the only way to enjoy a John Fogerty concert. Standing and rockin´ like there is no tomorrow. There were sitting bleachers in the rear of the venue but everything near the stage was standing. An excellent mixture of age groups - I noticed a lot of younger people nearer the stage which is a great thing!!!!
OK....John rocked the place like nobody else can. Yall have heard my thoughts about the additionof Jason on fiddle so I will let Anne, Petra and Alessio give their opinions - ummmmm, hint, hint, they think like me!!!!! Petra thinks even M O R E than I think, but......that is for her to explain.
OK; OK, set list guys
Born on the Bayou
Then John talks to the crowd about having been in Iceland only once before very shortly when he stopped for fuel.....I would guess in a plane????
Bad Moon Rising
Green River
Who´ll Stop the Rain (after telling his Woodstock story)
Lookin´out My Back Door
Hot Rod Heart (Jason played on this)
Suzie Q
Commotion
(Before doing the next song, John spent some time talking to Alessio and introduced him as a special guest.....WOOOOOHOOOO
Bootleg
Cotten Fields (gosh this song really rocks)
My Toot Toot
Ramble Tamble (really cool lightening on this).
John spoke to Alessio again before the next song and joked quite a bit. One of those never forget John Fogerty talked to me moments for him!!!!
Midnight Special
Grapevine
Don´t You Wish It Was True (Jason on banjo) with really cool light images
Creedence Song with a rockin´dobro solo by Jason
Broken Down Cowboy - John again spent quite a bit of time talkin about this song and his love for Julie. He said that he was not sure he deserved her and somewhere in his talking said that if you really listen, this is not a sad song. IMHO, this is a sad song and I am just oh so glad that John met Julie and she turned out to be the best thing that has happened to him.
Keep on Chooglin - again, really cool light show going on with this..
Before doing the next song, John got the now world famous drawing of the seahorse by Kelsey and showed it to the audience. After telling everyone that he and the band had recently toured Australia and that they had gone by the Melbourne zoo, Kelysey did the seahorse and the all important question Now, isn´t this the best seahorse you´ve ever seen? And the crowd properly responded ö Y E A H!! JOhn said that this song has a warm place in his heart because it has a rainbow in it and Kelsey likes vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles on it...
Then into
Have You Ever Seen The Rain
Blue Ridge Mountain Blues (plain, flat out great addition to the shows)
Down on the Corner - a sea of raised clapping hand with this one!!!
Good Golly Miss Molly - I know John did not write this, but I have to again say, that this song is one of my favorites and John truly does makes it his own when he does it. This just rocks to the inth degree with Mr. John and I go crazy when he does it!!!!!!!! YEEEEHAAAA
Old Man Down the Road
Fortunate Son
ENCORE
Rockin´All Over the World (Really nice this is back in rotation - great concert song)
Proud Mary
Again, lots of other comments, but they will come later and from Petra and gang.
For now, must get a little shut eye to catch 5 a.m. bus to airport and head to Stockholm......Stockholm you have your work cut out for you to beat the Iceland crowd.......
An exhausted, but very, very happy,
Darlene
